  News on: PICTURES EXHIBITION

Venice 1915-1918. Images of a City at War. Open to the public through 20 April 2009.

An exhibition marking the 90th anniversary of the end of the Great War, illustrating with paintings, photographs and original documents the situation in the city during the period of conflict. Among the artistic testimonies, some never shown before, are paintings and graphic art works by Guido Marussig, Guido Cadorin, Emanuele Brugnoli, Anselmo Bucci, Emma Ciardi – all special “chroniclers” of life in the city during this dramatic period.
The show, divided to four sections –“City in Arms,” “City To Be Saved,” “Wounded City,” and “Venice and Victory” – was made possible thanks to the collaboration between Cassa di Risparmio di Venezia and Civic Museums Foundation of Venice that made available all the works on display, coming from its remarkable historical and photography collections.
Bank office hours, Monday-Friday, 8.30am to 1.3pm and 2.45 to 4.15pm. Close weekends and holidays. Admission, free.
