ITALICS. Italian Art between Tradition and Revolution 1968-2008. Open to the public, 27 September to 22 March 2009.

The collection of over 250 works offers a new thematic point of view that is arguably provocative, and at times polemical, of Italian art in the last forty years. Leaving out a number of key works of that period, the show is an in-depth exploration of the true essence of the artistic panorama presenting a new look at over a hundred artists from different generations: from world renowned celebrities like Pino Pascali, Alighiero Boetti, Marisa Merz, Maurizio Cattelan and Vanessa Beecroft to such artists who at times have been unjustly overlooked as Fernando Melani or Maria Lai. The show has been produced by Palazzo Grassi and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Chicago (where it will travel in the fall of 2009) and directed by Francesco Bonami.
Catalogue (Italian, English and French) published by Electa. Open daily from 10am to 7pm.
