A World of Paper: Isabelle de Borchgrave meets Mariano Fortuny - through July 21st 2008

Isabelle de Borchgrave meets Mariano Fortuny. Open to the public until 21 July 2008.

More than eighty dresses, unique for being made of paper, as well as accessories and trompe-d’oeil, are on display in Venice at the charming residence-atelier of Mariano Fortuny, demonstrating the skill and talent of the Belgian artist, famous since 1998 for his traveling exhibition Papier à la mode.

The show, a tribute to the spirit of the place and to the common taste of the two artists, offers on the museum’s ground floor a sort of permanent workshop where a visitor can physically touch the materials used to create the works in their different stages of creation.

On display near the costumes on the second floor are several works by important late 20th-century artists, shown in rotation. Book-catalogue published by Skira.
