The Macchiaioli: masterpieces from the Mario Taragoni Collection

Opening to 27 July.
The exhibition puts on display for the first time the prestigious collection of 19th-century Tuscan paintings, assembled thanks to the passion and critical spirit of the famous Genovese collector Mario Taragoni, financier, economist and a man of culture and great love for painting. Works on display – acquired in the years between the two world wars and for the great part in the post WWII years – include some seventy works coming from the family’s collection as well as other important private collections. A singular event which offers a glimpse at the private side of a collector who had contributed to the conservation of an important groups of Italian works from the second half of the 19th century.
Curated by Antonio Paolucci. Catalogue published by Skira.
