Twenty-five years after the last Venetian exhibition of Santomaso’s works, this great show celebrates the Venetian Abstract master’s 100th birthday anniversary.
The exhibit, which traces his career from its early days to the peaks of his mature artistry, includes a collection of works by Santomaso’s contemporaries, offering an opportunity to view a considerable section of Italian and European painting at the second half of the 20th century, as well as demonstrating the kind of exchange the artist had with leading Italian and European Abstract artists such as Afro, Birolli, Mario De Luigi, Minassian, Music, Pizzinato, Vedova, Lazzari, Tancredi, Corpora, Guidi, Toti Scialoja, Braque, Poliakoff and Winter.
The show includes also the artist’s main graphic art works created beginning in the second half of the 1930s, as well as the rare art books he edited and created.
