LATE TITIAN AND SENSUALITY IN PAINTING.

Arriving in Venice following its great success in Vienna is the exhibition dedicated to the 16th-century great Veneto artist’s last years. Product of the a collaboration between the Kunsthistorisches Museum and the Special Venetian Museums Board, the show is divided to three section dedicated, respectively, to portraits, secular subjects and religious paintings – twenty-eight masterpieces painted from 1550 to 1576, the year of the artist’s death.

Among the works on display are “La Pietà,” the master’s last work depicting the effects of the terrible plague that raged during the last year of his life; the “Nymph and Pastor,” which has recently undergone a most delicate restoration prior to the Vienna show.
